T. Pardoen et al., ON THE USE OF THE LEMAITRE AND CHABOCHE MODEL FOR THE PREDICTION OF DUCTILE FRACTURE BY VOID COALESCENCE, International journal of fracture, 88(4), 1998, pp. 71-76
The model of Lemaitre and Chaboche (LC) (1990) is investigated in the
context of a study of ductile fracture of copper by void growth and co
alescence. The paper illustrates the fact that a phenomenological mode
l such as the LC model based on a mesoscopic damage variable is not we
ll suited for predicting fracture because it cannot account for the co
mplexity of the void coalescence process localised at the microscale.
