Hy. Zhang et al., PERFORMANCE STUDIES OF A SOLAR ONCE-THROUGH SYSTEM (OTS) COMBINED WITH A PHASE-CHANGE TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED VALVE (PCTCV), Energy (Oxford), 23(10), 1998, pp. 899-906
An OTS is more convenient to use and provides better temperature-contr
olled water than a natural circulation system. An excellent way to con
trol the exit-water temperature of an OTS is to utilize a PCTCV. Our r
esults show how the average water temperature changes with insolation
and collector inclination angle. The measured collector efficiency is
close to 60%, while the overall efficiency for the system including th
e storage tank is relatively low due to poor thermal insulation and la
rge heat capacity of the storage tank. Calculated results agree with e
xperimental measurements. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights re
