Bidentate 'PN' and tetradentate 'P2N2' ligands form stable silver(I) c
omplexes, which were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy. Conduct
ivity measurements indicate an ionic nature of the compounds in soluti
on. A thorough mass spectrometric study (electrospray ionization and f
ast atom bombardment) of these complexes and the corresponding Cu(I) a
nalogues supports the NMR and IR structural information. (C) 1998 Else
