Some tri-, di- and monoorganosilicon(lv) complexes of salicylaldehyde
thiosemicarbazone have been synthesized by the reactions of the corres
ponding tri-, di- and monoorganosilicon(IV) chlorides with the sodium
salt of salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone in different stoichiometric
ratios. The compounds are yellow coloured solids, soluble in common or
ganic solvents and are monomeric in CHCl3 solution. These derivatives
have been characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weights, cond
uctivity measurements and spectral (IR, H-1, C-13 and Si-29 NMR) studi
es. The complexation occurs via the thiol sulfur, and the imino nitrog
en atom.
