Abstract
The tricyclic amines (+/-)-2; R = H and R = Me with five stereogenic c entres, representing the A/E/F ring system of the title alkaloids, hav e been synthesised from penta-1,4-dien-3-ol in eight (overall yield 20 %) and nine steps (overall yield 16%) respectively.
