Abstract
The mechanism responsible for metal nanocluster formation during the a nnealing in hydrogen atmosphere in light waveguides containing silver ions is discussed. A phenomenological model based on ionic transport p rocesses is presented. The theoretical analysis is compared to previou s experimental results.
