Abstract
We examined the influence of androgens on fetal medial basal hypothala mic and preoptic area (MBH-POA) calbindin-D-28K levels (via Western an alysis) by treating pregnant rats with testosterone or flutamide, tan androgen receptor blocker). MBH-POA calbindin-D-28K levels were signif icantly decreased in flutamide-treated male fetuses, whereas, MBH-POA calbindin-D-28K levels were significantly increased in testosterone-tr eated female fetuses compared to controls. These results suggest that MBH-POA calbindin-D-28K is modulated during prenatal development by an drogens. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
