The di- and tri-organotin complexes of general formula R2SnL2 and R3Sn
L where R = C4H9, C6H5, C6H5 CH2, C6H11 and L=1-nitroso-2-naphthol, we
re subjected to thermal decomposition by means of thermogravimetry (TG
). The decomposition occurred in steps and the kinetics of every set o
f reactions were determined using the method described by Coats and Re
dfern. These results were analysed to establish the decomposition kine
tics and hence to calculate activation energies. The activation energi
es were also determined by applying the method described by Horowitz,
which yielded comparable results.
