Abstract
In this paper, the secondary plastic working and superplasticity of al uminium-matrix composites reinforced with SiC particulates have been s tudied. The results show that the technological method of isothermal h ot indirect extrusion (IHIE) is simple and effective in improving the mechanical and superplastic properties of SiCp/2024Al-alloy composites ; being particularly effective with composites produced by the casting method. When plastic working and superplasticity are considered as an engineering system, composites with good mechanical and superplastic properties can be obtained. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
