Abstract
The title compound, octakis(tetramethylammonium) docosavanadate acetat e 4.25-hydrate, was synthesized and found to crystallize in the tetrag onal space group P4(2)/n. 22 vanadium square pyramids form a barrel-sh aped cluster which hosts the acetate ion; this is the first case where an organic molecule is hosted by a vanadium oxide cluster. The cluste rs are linked into a three-dimensional net by hydrogen bonds with wate r molecules. Tetramethylammonium ions fill the space between the clust ers.
