The performance of SCR commercial plate-type catalysts in the DeNO(x)
reaction and in the oxidation of SO2 to SO3 was studied on a lab-scale
by using the catalysts in the form of slabs: an extended experimental
campaign and a kinetic analysis of the data resulted in the evaluatio
n of the intrinsic activity, the role of the morphological properties
and the effect of the geometry in the SCR process. Scale-up of the res
ults was also addressed, this involved the estimate of external mass t
ransfer coefficients for the complex channel geometry which characteri
zes the industrial plate-type monoliths.
