Pt. Hanh et al., ELECTROCHEMICAL ADSORPTION OF POLYVINYL-ALCOHOL ON THE PLATINUM-ELECTRODE, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 34(10), 1998, pp. 1005-1009
Electrochemical adsorption of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) from sulfuric ac
id solutions is studied. It is shown that the maximum coverage of the
surface by the adsorbed polymer occurs at E = 0.3 V (NHE) and amounts
to 0.6-0.65 monolayers at the highest PVA concentration. Desorption of
PVA from the platinum surface starts from 1.1 V. It is assumed that a
PVA unit occupies six adsorption centers, two of which are blocked be
cause of steric hindrances.
