Ye. Evstefeeva et al., SYNTHETIC SEMICONDUCTOR DIAMOND ELECTRODES - A COMPARISON OF SINGLE-CRYSTAL AND POLYCRYSTALLINE FILMS, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 34(10), 1998, pp. 1055-1060
Results of the capacitance and voltammetric measurements performed wit
h polycrystdline and single-crystal semiconductor diamond thin-film el
ectrodes are compared. The quantitative impedance characteristics and
kinetic characteristics in the Ce3+/4+ system are shown to be similar
for both types of electrodes, whereas the electrode reaction kinetics
for the diamond and the amorphous diamondlike carbon (a-C:H) electrode
s differ. A preliminary conclusion is derived that the electrochemical
behavior of polycrystalline diamond electrodes is basically determine
d by the diamond crystallites, rather than by the disordered carbon fo
rming the intercrystallite boundaries.
