Abstract
This paper is concerned with the application of Computer algebra Syste m-MapleV to the nonlinear analysis of shallow spherical shells. In the present paper, the nonlinear equations of the shell to the nonlinear problem could be solved by using CASes method. Detailed high-order ite rative solution expressions and analytical results for the third itera tion are given in CASes forms. The numerical results show that the sol utions of this paper contain other cases where the solutions were the second iteration. The effects of various inner radius parameters have been investigated in detail. The results of the third iterative expres sions are obtained firstly. It has been shown that the adoption of CAS es method would be useful in nonlinear problems. (C) 1998 Elsevier Sci ence S.A. All rights reserved.
