Highly sulfated alpha-, beta- and gamma-cyclodextrins were used to inv
estigate the simultaneous separation of isomeric alpha- and beta-aspar
tyl containing di- and tripeptides as well as their enantiomers in cap
illary electrophoresis. Separation of the enantiomers was accomplished
with the different sulfated cyclodextrin types under acidic condition
s (pH 2-3). In some cases, comigration of diastereomerically related i
somers or epimers resulted in incomplete separations. The results obta
ined with the highly sulfated cyclodextrins, having an average degree
of substitution 12, were compared to those obtained with sulfated cycl
odextrins with degree of substitution 4. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V
