Av. Plaskeev et al., EFFECT OF CHROMIUM AND MOLYBDENUM ON THE PASSIVABILITY OF A NICKEL-BASED TERNARY ALLOY, Protection of metals, 34(5), 1998, pp. 442-446
New data on the effect of chromium and molybdenum on the passivation o
f nickel alloys were obtained and generalized. Acting jointly, chromiu
m and molybdenum completely suppress the active dissolution of the nic
kel base of the NiCr15Mo 15 alloy by transferring it into the joint pa
ssive state. The passivating effects of molybdenum upon the nickel-chr
omium base of the alloy in the potential range of cathodic hydrogen ev
olution and chromium on the nickel-molybdenum base in the range of mol
ybdenum transpassivity were ascertained. The regularities were explain
ed in the terms of the dependence of the passivation features of a sol
id solution on the inductive interaction between reactions proceeding
on its components.
