Investigations were carried out into the kinetics of nucleation and gr
owth of fatigue cracks by analysis of fields of displacements in polyc
rystalline specimens of D16AM duralumin in low-cycle fatigue condition
s. The results show that fatigue failure on the mesolevel consists of
a number of stages and is associated with the translational-rotational
movement of volume mesodefects and fragmentation of the material. The
criteria of failure of diagnostics are determined by the parameters o
f mesoscopic substructures formed on the surface of polycrystals durin
g their cyclic loading.
