Abstract
Investigations were carried out into the kinetics of nucleation and gr owth of fatigue cracks by analysis of fields of displacements in polyc rystalline specimens of D16AM duralumin in low-cycle fatigue condition s. The results show that fatigue failure on the mesolevel consists of a number of stages and is associated with the translational-rotational movement of volume mesodefects and fragmentation of the material. The criteria of failure of diagnostics are determined by the parameters o f mesoscopic substructures formed on the surface of polycrystals durin g their cyclic loading.
