The paper describes the results of experiments in direct electric heat
ing of samples of MPG-7 graphite in an atmosphere of argon at a pressu
re of 2.5 bar. Repeated recordings were made of the sample destruction
accompanied by the emergence of carbon melt under heating at a rate o
f 10(2)-10(3) K/min. The melting parameters of carbon, determined as a
result of this study, amount to p = 2.5 bar and T = 3700 K, which con
firms our previous assumption concerning the triple point parameters o
f carbon.
