Abstract
Modern imaging includes many studies performed to examine limited fiel ds of view (i.e., paranasal sinus studies). These studies are frequent ly retrospectively coned to the limited field of view and are off en e xamined only at one window and level setting. However, classic radiolo gy teaching demands that all irradiated structures be examined by a qu alified physician; for examples, on an intravenous pyelogram the exami ner should look at not only the kidneys, ureters, and bladder, but als o the bones, soft tissues, and gas patterns. This article illustrates unsuspected intracranial pathology noted on computed tomographic exami nations of the paranasal sinuses and temporal bones. (C) Elsevier Scie nce Inc., 1997.
