Abstract
(S)-2-methylasparagine was prepared from both (5S, ,6-diphenyl-2,3,5,6 -tetrahydro-4H-1,4-oxazin-2-one ((-)-1) and its antipode ((+)-1) via s tereoselective glycine enolate alkylation as a key step.
