Sa. Khatipov et Vp. Sichkar, EFFECT OF HIGH-PRESSURE ON THE KINETICS OF RADIATION-INDUCED ELECTRIC-CONDUCTIVITY IN POLY(TETRAFLUOROETHYLENE), Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 40(10), 1998, pp. 1612-1617
Variation of the radiation-induced room-temperature electric conductiv
ity in PTFE films depending on the extent of mechanical compression wa
s studied on PTFE samples irradiated with gamma-quanta at a dose rate
of 2.2 Gy/s. It was found that an increase in the pressure led to a co
nsiderable decrease in the conductivity and a delay in the time of att
aining the maximum conductivity level. The activation volume for the c
harge mobility in PTFE samples during and after the irradiation are 90
and 40 cm(3)/mol. It is concluded that the charge transfer is determi
ned by large-scale molecular motions on the level of the Kuhn segment.
Effects of the radiation-chemical transformations on the radiation-in
duced conductivity kinetics in PTFE is discussed.
