A number of different chemical substances were evaluated for their abi
lity to depress dolomite in the flotation of apatite and collophane fr
om dolomite. Carboxymethyl cellulose was found to be the best depressa
nt and citric acid and naphthyl anthyl sulfonates were found to be goo
d depressants for dolomite. None of these substances significantly dep
ressed apatite or cellophane. EDTA was found to be a dolomite activato
r rather than depressant. The other chemicals studied had little effec
t on either dolomite or apatite flotation. (C) 1997 Published by Elsev
