Abstract
The 2x2 Jones matrix method is used in a theoretical analysis of the c avity amplitude and phase nonreciprocities of monolithic nonplanar sol id-state ring lasers. An approach is developed to the optimisation of the perimeter and parameters of the cavity to ensure the necessary amp litude and phase nonreciprocities. Calculations are reported of the ca vity parameters optimal for the two most important applications: unidi rectional single-frequency lasing and bidirectional lasing in a self-m odulation regime which is of interest in laser gyroscopy.
