Abstract
In order to search for novel herbicides with high activity and selecti vity, a series of N-p-toluenesulfonyl phosphonopeptide derivatives has been designed and synthesized by the condensation reaction of dipheny l alpha-aminoalkylphosphonates and 1-p-toluenesulfonamido-acetyl chlor ide. Their structures were confirmed by H-1 NMR spectroscopy and eleme ntal analyses. The results of bioassay showed that some of these compo unds possess potential anti-TMV (Tobacco Mosaic Virus) activity. (C) 1 997 John Wiley and Sons, Inc.
