Abstract
Polarization dynamics of a ferroelectric with hydrogen bonds irradiate d by laser pulses is analyzed in the pseudospin approximation. Conditi ons of photoexcitation of a reflective dynamic phase grating in a DKDP crystal at room temperature are determined. To test the analytical re sults, we studied the regime of lasing in a multimode YAG : Nd3+ laser with cw pumping and an intracavity DKDP crystal. Changes in the kinet ics of lasing observed in experiments with an intracavity DKDP crystal correspond to the transition of a laser into the regime of periodic Q switching, which proves that a phase grating is excited in the DKDP c rystal and demonstrates the possibility to apply these crystals for pa ssive periodic Q switching in solid-state lasers.
