Abstract
Recent studies have found that the basal ganglia are involved in diver se behavioral activities and suggest that they have executive function s. Highlights from the past year include anatomical and clinical studi es that have used sophisticated, novel methods to confirm a role for t he basal ganglia in somatosensory discrimination, visual perception, s patial working memory and habit learning.
