Abstract
With new techniques now available to quantitate virus-specific CTLs, n ew ideas about the magnitude of precursor, effector, and memory CTLs a re emerging. Here, Peter Doherty, Gabrielle Betz, and Kirsten Flynn di scuss the technical breakthroughs that allow quantitation,the need for consensus on nomenclature, and the implications of the early findings .
