In our study ''Schooling For Children From Autochthonous and Immigrant
Minorities in the FRG'' (1995-1997), sponsored by the German Research
Association, we enquired into the question of whether and how legal a
nd curricular framework structure of the German school system shows th
at, since the middle of the 1950s, innovative impulses have come from
immigration. The legal and curricular options of the different Laender
are examined with a special focus on developments in the field of lan
guage education.
