Abstract
Terminology for congenital hand problems is confusing and has changed over the last several years. This article clarifies some of these prob lematic terms. Some congenital differences are inherited and should be recognized in order to advise the patient's family. Timing and planni ng surgery depends on several factors, such as presence of other assoc iated anomalies, development of normal milestones of hand-eye coordina tion, and growth of the infant hand.
