Plastic surgeons are often asked to evaluate a number of wound healing
problems in neonates admitted to the intensive care unit. To date, th
ere are no specific guidelines for the treatment of these varied probl
ems. This article reviews the author's experience with treatment of se
vere intravenous infiltrates, acute vascular injuries, CPAP injuries,
decubitus ulcers, and other soft tissue infections. These protocols ha
ve provided excellent results in the management of these difficult wou
nds and injuries.
