Abstract
An instrument to measure the friction forces in the contacts between i ndividual fibers is described. Based on these measurements, the coeffi cients of friction of cellulose fibers were determined in different me dia: in air, water, and in the aqueous solutions of polyethyleneimine (PEI). The dependence of the friction coefficient on the PEI concentra tion in the solution was analyzed.
