Ea. Raud et al., REGULAR TRENDS IN WETTING AND THE LEYDENFROST PHENOMENON, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 60(5), 1998, pp. 589-592
The kinetics of wetting and spreading of droplets at their contact wit
h the surface heated to the Leydenfrost temperature, i.e., the tempera
ture of the transition of liquid to the spheroidal state was studied.
The data analysis related to the kinetics of droplet spreading was per
formed based on the capillary model. It was shown that the model is in
good agreement with the experiment. The application of the regulariti
es obtained for wetting and spreading under nonisothermal conditions w
ere discussed as applied to the formation of coke deposition during th
e hydrocarbon pyrolysis and the calculation of critical thermal loadin
g during the boiling of raw oil.
