Abstract
The self-similar evolution of weak and strong Langmuir collapse is stu died by two-dimensional simulation of a soliton instability. The simul ation is based on Zakharov's model of magnetized strong turbulence inc luding ion dynamics. For the parameters considered, consistency with s elf-similar weak collapse regimes is found with no evidence of a stron g Langmuir collapse. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
