Ap. Murani et Rs. Eccleston, EVIDENCE FOR SINGLE-ION SPECTRAL RESPONSE FROM A STRONGLY HYBRIDIZED ANDERSON-LATTICE - CERH2, Physica. B, Condensed matter, 230, 1997, pp. 126-129
We report measurements of the low-temperature ground-state (F-2(5/2))
paramagnetic spectral response of the compounds CeRh2 and Ce(Rh0.73Pt0
.27)(2) Both compounds show broad lorentzian-like, single-ion spectral
response with characteristic energies of similar to 114 (+/- 8) and s
imilar to 63 (+/- 5) meV, respectively. The lower magnitude of the cha
racteristic energy for the Pt-doped sample is consistent with the prog
ressive evolution towards the stable valent (i.e. low T-K) state of Ce
with increasing Pt content x in the pseudo-binary Ce(Rh1-xPtx)(2). Fe
rmi-liquid relations indicate that the characteristic energies T-K for
both compounds are consistent with the linear specific heat coefficie
nt gamma and, to a lesser extent, the low-temperature susceptibility c
hi(0).
