Abstract
The title compound, N-[(1S,4R)-2-oxo-pinanyl]-beta-alanine methylester , is an important starting material for the electrochemical preparatio n of chiral amidoalkylation reagents in the synthesis of chiral beta-s ubstituted beta-amino acid derivatives. The investigation of its cryst al structure reveals an arrangement of the carbonyl group and the amin e function, which is influenced by a hydrogen bonding interaction. Thi s conformation makes the molecule especially appropriate for further s ynthetical modification.
