Abstract
Structural and magnetic properties of these new ternary stannides were studied. Ce2Ni2Sn adopts an orthorhombic structure related to the W2C oB2-type and exhibits the behaviour of an antiferromagnetically (T-N = 4.7 K) ordered Kondo system. On the contrary, Ce2Pd2.04Sn0.96 and Ce2 Pt2Sn stannides crystallize in an ordered version of the tetragonal U3 Si2-type structure. Ce2Pd2.04Sn0.96 shows two magnetic transitions: be low T-N = 4.8 K the antiferromagnetic structure is described by a prop agation vector q = (0.112(3), 0, 0) at 4.5 K and at T-C congruent to 3 .0 K a ferromagnetic order takes place. Also Ce2Pt2Sn presents magneti c orderings at low temperature.
