Abstract
We have calculated level densities for Cr48-50 and Mn-50,Mn-51 using t he Shell Model Monte Carlo method. As residual interaction we use a pa iring + quadrupole force supplemented by an additional isospin repulsi on which is treated in perturbation theory. The SMMC results compare f avorably with empirical backshifted Fermi gas level densities. (C) 199 8 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
