Abstract
A brief overview is given on different definitions and topics related with bioelectronics and nanotechnologies. Reference is given to differ ent aspects of bioelectronics as they were presented for the first tim e at the Congress ''Biosensors 96'' in Bangkok. Conceptional similarit ies and differences between man-made and biological nanostructures are mentioned briefly with particular emphasis on natural and artificial senses and the example of bio-electronic noses.
