We present muon spin relaxation measurements performed at the Rutherfo
rd Appleton Laboratory in metallic compounds well known to be characte
rized by small magnetic moments, if any. Thanks to the low background
we are able to unambiguously differentiate the various functions for t
he decay of the muon depolarisation. This allows one to distinguish be
tween dynamical (YbB12) and static (URu2Si2, CeRu2) magnetic correlati
ons, and between a disordered magnet (CeRu2) and a magnet with a limit
ed correlation length (URu2Si2) Surprisingly, in UPt3 we do not find a
ny signature of electronic magnetic correlations.
