Abstract
Serum calcium levels were markedly reduced in male freshwater catfish Heteropneustes fossilis following hypophysectomy. The administration o f salmon calcitonin to intact fish had no effect on serum calcium leve l, whereas the same treatment to hypophysectomized fish induced hypoca lcemia. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
