Abstract
We present a quantitative analysis of the spectral density data from t he core and chain deuterons in the liquid crystal p-hexyloxybenzyliden e-p'-fluoroaniline. The unusually small J(1)(omega )/J(2)(2 omega) rat io for the methylene deuterons near the core in the highly ordered sme ctic B phase is reproduced using a decoupled model for correlated inte rnal bond rotations in the chain.
