The compounds CePdSi2, CeIrSi2 and CeRhSn2 have been synthesized and s
tudied by X-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity and magnetic susce
ptibility. The magnetic susceptibility of CePdSi2 exhibits two peaks a
t 6.8 K and 2.5 K, respectively, indicating two antiferromagnetic phas
e transitions, while that of CeIrSi2 shows a broad maximum at 150 K, c
haracteristic of valence fluctuating Ce-compounds. CeRhSn2 remains par
amagnetic down to 5 K. The resistivity of CeIrSi2 exhibits a T-2 depen
dence at low temperatures, indicating a Fermi-liquid ground state, whi
le those of CePdSi2 and CeRhSn2 shows the presence of Kondo and crysta
l field effects.
