Abstract
Electron correlations are strongly enhanced in low-dimensional systems . Taking correlations as the dominant mechanism, we provide an explana tion of the recently observed electrostatically enforced structural ph ase transition(3 x 1 to 6 x 1) on a Si(1 1 1) surface with submonolaye r Ag adsorption.
