C. Hernando et al., DESCRIPTION OF THE ADULTS AND LARVAE OF A REMARKABLE NEW OULIMNIUS GOZIS FROM THE ANTI-ATLAS (SW MOROCCO) (COLEOPTERA, ELMIDAE), Annales de la Societe entomologique de France, 34(3), 1998, pp. 253-258
The adults and larvae of a new species of the genus Oulimnus, 0. jaech
i, sp. n., are described from the Moroccan Anti-Atlas. The external mo
rphology of the adult is closer to the Ibero-Moroccan species O. fusci
pes (Reiche), although the aedeagus is highly characteristic and morph
ologically derived, very elongated and cylindrical, with a general dry
opid-like appearance. This seems to be the extreme expression of a mor
phological trend recognisable in related north African species, as wel
l as in other groups within the Dryopoidea.
