A photometric study of the kinetics and thermodynamics of template syn
thesis and decomposition reactions of macrobicyclic tris-cyclooctanedi
one-1,2-dioximates (octoximates) FeOx(3)(BR)(2), where R=Bn-C4H9 and C
6H5, and tris-cycloheptandione-1,2-dioximate (heptoximate), FeGx(3)(BR
')(2), where R'=n-C3H7, in diluted solutions has been performed. The c
rystal and molecular structures of FeOx(3)(Bn-C4H9)(2) . CCl4 and FeGx
(3)(Bn-C3H7)(2) complexes have been solved. The electronic absorption
spectra of solution for starting dioximes and their clathrochelate bor
on-containing iron(II) complexes have thoroughly been examined. Some s
pecific features in the structure of alpha-dioximate fragments of the
dioxime molecules and resulted clathrochelates in crystals as well as
the electronic absorption spectra characteristics for their solutions
have been analyzed along with the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters
of synthesis and decomposition reactions. These parameters were found
to be predominantly affected by the magnitude of a torsion angle in t
he chelate ring.
