In this paper, the concept of rating space, constructed based on the i
dea of angular models developed earlier, is employed as a tool for app
roximate reasoning and applied to fuzzy modus ponens deduction techniq
ues. This approach infers IF-THEN rules by transforming a problem into
the rating space. The problem can then be solved by computing the rat
ing values of the conclusion when a new value of an antecedent is avai
lable. Using this technique, the rating space transformation allows a
uniform treatment of fuzzy propositions using a simple calculation pro
cedure. Examples of applications to construction operations are presen
ted for illustration purposes.
