Abstract
Mammary glands reconstituted in the cleared fat pads of nude mice with mammary epithelium derived from several mouse strains demonstrate tha t strain-specific differences in the topology of adult virgin female m ice are a developmental consequence of induction by hormonal and strom al influences rather than epithelial cell autonomy.
