Abstract
We propose an experiment using micro-mechanical stretching of DNA to p robe nonlinear energy localization in a lattice. Using numerical simul ations and kinetics calculations we estimate the order of magnitude of the expected force fluctuations. They appear to be at the border of p resent experimental possibilities.
