The energies and wavefunctions of the 1s(2)2snl (l less than or equal
to 3), 1s(2)2p(2) D-1 and 1s(2)2p(2) P-3 states of beryllium are calcu
lated with a model-potential method by using selected B-spline basis f
unctions in a configuration-interaction (CI) scheme. Our length result
s of the oscillator strengths for electric dipole transitions and the
energies, which are set to be zero at the ground state of Be III, are
compared with the experimental and other theoretical results. The agre
ement showed that our method is capable of giving accurate results for
various states of beryllium efficiently.
