We describe an analysis of phototransferred thermoluminescence (PTTL)
using simple energy band models and considering the dynamics of charge
transfer between localized trapping states during irradiation, illumi
nation and heating. The various behaviours which are possible are high
lighted and described. Particular attention is focused upon the depend
ences of the PTTL signal upon the illumination time and upon the wavel
ength of excitation. Some comparisons with experimental PTTL signals f
rom crystalline quartz are discussed.
